Cat / Norwegian Forest Cat - Answered 1517 days ago
I have a 9-month-old female Norwegian forest cat. I'm thinking of getting her neutered pretty soon, but our local vet told us they don't run any blood tests before the surgery. However, I did some research and found that most clinics actually do perform blood tests before surgery. Are blood tests necessary before surgery? What are they usually checking in those tests?

Hi, You should conduct the bloodwork on the Cat, it is used to determine the general health of the liver and kidneys (which obviously cannot be checked with an external physical exam), which helps a veterinarian select the safest form of anesthesia.
