Cat / Maine Coon - Answered 1407 days ago
I have a male Maine Coon that's a little over 6 months old. In late March I was planning on getting him neutered since he had become half a year old, but at the health check, in early March we were told it was too early because his permanent teeth hadn't grown in yet. We had our older cat - a female Norwegian Forest Cat - neutered when she was 8 months and were told that it was a little late. I've heard that Maine Coons take longer to mature, so do you think it won't be too late even if we wait for the teeth to grow in?

Hey, Thank you for being a responsible pet owner, you need to have your Maine Coon neutered at the right age before they typically hit puberty. Spaying or neutering should be done before the start of puberty to reduce the risk of the surgery, but after all permanent teeth have come in. So you could as well wait till all the permanent teeth come in.
