Cat / Norwegian Forest Cat - Answered 1328 days ago
My cat was diagnosed with struvite stones in her urine at a health check last year, and has been eating specialty food ever since. I want to give her treats like Churu once in a while - Is it OK to give her treats if they're made for urinary tract health?

Hi Ander, I hope you and your coco are doing absolutely fantastic. Well, It is really relaxing to hear that Coco is under special treatment regarding the struvite crystals. I believe she has been responding to the remedies that been given to her. It is sometimes controversial to give phosphorus rich food to the patients with kidney diseases ( The cause of struvite crystals may be an underlying kindney disease). The feeds that you have mentioned, they are generally high in phosphorus. Phosphorus is detrimental for kidney diseases. But at the same time energy is also an important factor to be considered. So, I would recommend you feed adequate or just enough Churu to your cat. Never over feed them with this kind of feed. Again as always consulting your near by vet will be a better option. Thank you Hope Ii has help you out. All the best
