Dog / Yorkshire Terriers - Answered 1302 days ago
I sometimes find vomit on the sofa when I come home. Even when I’m at home, our dog hides away to throw up once in a while. Sometimes it's undigested food, and sometimes it's just transparent liquid, like gastric acid. Do you think it's because of the food? Or is there a possibility of some disease? I give my dog dry food, and take him to yearly checkups when I get him vaccinated.

Hi Henry. Undigested vomit is normal in cats. The white liquid is the sign of acid reflux in cats. I advice to change to low-fat and low-protein meals given in small frequent feedings. After initial treatment and alteration of diet, it is advisable to continue monitoring for gastroesophageal reflux. Watch for signs of discomfort. A continued low-fat, low-protein diet will prevent future incidences, and high-fat foods should be avoided, as they may worsen gastroesophageal reflux. If you had another question, let me know.
