My pet hasn't been eating much since yesterday, and her stool has been black and sticky three times in a row. She did eat her breakfast today but I'm a little worried. I think she's a little less energetic than usual. Is there anything I can look out for or do?

Hi It could be melena, black stool can result from a range of things, from exposure to toxins or a foreign body in the gastrointestinal system to pancreatitis and kidney failure. A few of the more common causes of black dog poop are cancer, foreign bodies, parasites, and viral or bacterial pathogens One common cause of melena in dogs is cancer, so it is important to get your dog to the veterinarian so you can get it treated early. The earlier you can get it treated, the better your dog’s chances of recovery. However, melena in your dog's stool does not always mean that your dog has cancer. So pls make sure you see your vet as soon as possible
