Hi. So my dog didnt really choked on something. He was positive for parvo virus. Early this morning I found bloodstreaked wet stools that smells fishy. I brought him right away to the vet's clinic. He is on IV Therapy now with some oral medications. Other tips or remedies that you can add?
Also. He was febrile. Im not quite sure about that. He doesnt have a med for that. I only gave him water. Will that suffice? Thank you so much.
You've simply done the right thing by taking him to the clinic.
However, vomiting and severe, often bloody, diarrhea are signs of parvo virus.
Even though there is no specific drug is available that will kill the virus in infected dogs, and treatment is intended to support the dog's body systems until the dog's immune system can fight off the viral infection. Treatment should be started immediately and consists primarily of intensive care efforts to combat dehydration by replacing electrolyte, protein and fluid losses, controlling vomiting and diarrhea, and preventing secondary infections. Sick dogs should be kept warm and receive good nursing care.
The water you gave is okay i think, sine you already took her to the clinic.
the vet would give you further directives on what things to do.
