Hey dear Just go for blood haemoglobin level and also arrange for donor for blood infusion while surgery. If donor or blood remain available then nothing to worry. Go for surgery. My hospital have done such cases with donor availability for blood. Thanks and regards Dr pranaw Sinha

Well I would love to differ as the animal with leukemia is more likely to develop complications post surgery and rather I would advise you to wait for the treatment of leukemia to get completed as a depressed immune system is unlikely to tolerate any major surgery .the body must feel normal and healthy to undergo any elective surgery and this is not the case with this animal.i would suggest you to wait for the outcome of leukemia treatment before you go ahead with spaying .

Hi Justina. I'm glad you contacted us about that. It needs a CBC test for Lala's future treatment and spay decision. If you already had the test, let your vet know or let us know.

Hey Justina how are you... Hope You and Lala are doing absolutely fine. Well, see feline leukemia can be of different categories. Their risk also varies from one individual to another. Any kind of surgery is of high risk in any given patients of depressed immune system or feline leukemia for that matter. So I would recommend you to find out the risk involved in that. In an another way if we look forward, you can go for spaying because it will reduce the vertical transmission or in simple words she will not reproduce anymore so spreading of the disease will be stopped. And I really think that you should go for spaying. Although risk is involved but I think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Thank you Good luck.
