My dog vomited after we changed his food. We gave him the Science diet from Hill's. Did we do something wrong?

The change in puppies diet has to be gradual and not sudden ,that's the cause of your pup throwing up ,give him light food like puppy cerelac ,few kibbles of dog food ,some mix of home food and keep it light till he grows up and is fit enough to eat and digest readymade dog food

Food intoöerance especially after changing the food fastly is common if you go through fppd changing ypu should change it slowly may be a week or two. Start with mor oöd food and less new food gradually increase ampunt of new food and decrease amount of old food. And in the mean time if he vomited the food probably he dosent tolerate it and ypu should try some other food

Hi Jonathan, Well this happens almost every time when there is transition in food. So, let me tell you some practical deals How to Change Your Dog’s Food Switching your dog’s food abruptly can cause gastrointestinal upset such as vomiting, diarrhea, and a decreased appetite. Any time you decide to change your dog’s food, you should transition to the new diet gradually in order to give your dog’s system time to adjust to the change. Ideally, these transitions should happen over 5-7 days. During this transition, you will gradually incorporate more and more of the new food by mixing it with your dog’s current diet. For most dogs, a good diet transition will look like this: Day 1: 25% new diet and 75% old diet. Day 3: 50% new diet and 50% old diet. Day 5: 75% new diet and 25% old diet. Day 7: 100% new diet. Some dogs with sensitive stomachs, food allergies, or other gastrointestinal diseases may need an even longer transition period. The key to a good diet transition is monitoring your dog’s individual response. If, at any point during the diet transition, your dog displays concerning signs such as changes in appetite, vomiting, or diarrhea, you should proceed more slowly. And if you have transitioned gradually and your dog is still experiencing stomach upset, it is best to consult with your veterinarian. In some cases, it may be necessary to choose a different diet.

Hey buddy Yes please don't abruptly change food behaviour. It induces bn trigger enzymatic activities in abnormal way which causes digestion problems. If still vomiting going on then give Ondeserton Syrup about 5 ml twice in a Day for 3 days n palatble foods like curd. Thanks Regards Dr.pranaw Sinha

Well, Hi Jonathan, Hope you are doing good in this hard times. See, Dogs are very delicate towards food and exercise. Diet is really important for good health. Sudden changes to your dog's food may result in gastrointestinal issues, so switching dog food (varieties or brands) too quickly can upset his stomach. Above all, it's important to transition to a new dog food slowly, typically over 7-10 days. Before you make the decision to change dog foods, check with your veterinarian. If you continue to see signs of stomach issues or your dog does not stop vomiting, you should bring him in as soon as you can. He may have an allergy or food intolerance, or he may have a more serious problem (foreign body in the stomach, systemic disease, etc.). If you've recently begun the transition to a Hill's brand food, be sure to start small and gradually build up the amount until it's the only food you're only offering.
